ABOUT US

At Resurgence, we roast two types of origin and thats Guatemalan Huehuetenango and Ethiopian Harrar .In Guatemalan we roast light (Va Va Voom) a new city (Ba Da Bing) and a blend of the two (Ba Da Boom)and Ethiopian light (Deano)French roast (Sammy D)and The Cruiser Combo(Frankie) , so you are assured that the coffee we roast can be identified as a single origin. You may enjoy this coffee, you may not, but at least we wont confuse you with blends for Africa just to get your business.

Roasted in Riwaka Nelson Bays, there is a way of life that if you didn't know any better, a rebirth of energy with minimal effort happens. Resurgence is no different. Simply roasted with 18 years experience in a 5kg soft drum roaster. Packed in 200gram or one kilo paper bags ground or beans, and then sent out for you to enjoy.

All at a reasonable price that wont break the bank or make me a huge coffee baron overnight.

Our logo depicts the Mountains to the Sea with the spiral in the middle represents the Resurgence. The Resurgence of the Riwaka river comes out at the base of a marble mountain. The water takes along time to emerge from the mountain and is pure and crystal clear. Resurgence Coffee has the same characteristics. It has taken along time to learn the trade and we operate with a pure and clear attitude to all we deal with.

We hope you enjoy Resurgence Riwaka Roast

A beginning to the end!

Riwaka Roasting 2008

Coming to New Zealand in 1966, lived for a short time in Riwaka with my Grandfather (Bill Reeve, founder of the Riwaka Bowling Club and once part owner of the Riwaka garage), mother and sister. Moved to Richmond Nelson for 17 years and then to Christchurch for the past 27. Although Riwaka was my home as a young boy for only a year or so I had always known, that one day he would return to the area. Having been a Coffee Roaster and Coffee Consultant for the past 17 years, I have brought my expertise to the region and opened Resurgence, Riwaka Roasting.

Resurgence, the title for where the Riwaka River emerges from the Takaka Hill, seemed a appropriate name for the company, not only for the river that flows only 200 meters past William and his wife Anne Marie’s house, but for the meaning of the word, (to bring something back to life, for a revival, renewal or rebirth). You could say that about what draws people into the area, either for a holiday or to settle in a environment relatively relaxed but invigorating.

Resurgence will provide the market with a quality totally Organic Fair Trade product at reasonable prices, as well as providing coffee consulting service, which will include coffee history, product knowledge, Barista training and related services to all those interested.

It is the intention to educate and relate these aspects to the populous, that a product so widely used, is not truly or always understood. This will be done in two ways, One on One training Café owners and their Staff and to hold seminars at the Roastery

William and Anne Marie do hope you enjoy their Coffee and make full use of the Roastery to educate and appreciate this fine product.
